Amazon Music grows faster than Spotify and Apple

Amazon Music Growth Outpaces Spotify, Apple Music

As competitors continue to introduce new features and more detailed interactivity, Amazon executives have outright said that Amazon Music is a "mainstream music-streaming service for the mainstream music fan". And of particular note for marketers, analysis of Amazon's music streaming user base shows that the company attracts a much higher proportion of older consumers than rival services. Amazon's current subscriber count to its music services sits at about 32 million.

Amazon grew its Music Unlimited streaming service by over 70 percent in the past year, according to data by Midia Research published by the Financial Times. By comparison, Spotify grew its subscriber base by 25 percent past year, to about 100 million subscribers.

The comparison to those rivals is the FT's angle however: that Amazon Music's growth is outstripping that of Spotify and Apple Music.

China to impose sanctions on USA firms
They were requested by Taiwan earlier in 2019 in order to bolster its defences - "in the face of pressure" from China. The Chinese government has never renounced the use of force as an option for achieving reunification.

What do you think of Amazon Music's subscriber growth? Only 5% of Spotify's users are in that category. The service now has approximately 32 million subscribers.

In brief: Spotify and Apple Music are the two largest streaming outfits in the USA but a dark horse competitor - Amazon - is coming on strong. Although relatively late to music streaming - Amazon Music debuted only in autumn 2016 - it appears the e-commerce giant is succeeding partly because of its brand recognition. Amazon also offers a super-cheap subscription, at $4 per month, for those who want to listen only via a single Echo smart speaker. "For the industry to reach its full potential, we can't just look at 15- to 22-year-olds", he added.
