Grieving Angels return for 1st home game since Skaggs’ death

Angels throw combined no-hitter on night they honor Tyler Skaggs

On a night when the all-too-short life of Tyler Skaggs was being remembered and celebrated at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the Angels threw a combined no-hitter against the Mariners.

The Angels continued to honor fallen teammate Tyler Skaggs on Friday night in their first home contest since the 27-year-old's death on July 1.

The stadium had new signage commemorating the late pitcher, who died on July 1 while the team was in Texas for their series against the Rangers. The game ended with the team's 13 -0 win against the Seattle Mariners and a no-hitter - a rare achievement that means the Angels' pitchers didn't let up a single hit.

Cole went two innings and Pena cruised through the last seven for the no-hitter, the 11th in Angels history and the first in California since the Orioles did it to the Athletics on July 13, 1991, the day Skaggs was born.

The Angels then proceeded to play their heavy hearts out in their first home game since their beloved pitcher's death. You just hurt so much for Tyler's family.

Ex-pitcher Dwight Gooden charged with drug possession
Since his name received less than five percent of the vote, at 3.3 percent, he has been removed from all future considerations. Monmouth County police said he was found with "two small green zip-lock style plastic baggies containing suspected cocaine".

Skaggs was also honored at Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland. "That's how it's always going to be for all of us". Before the game, Skaggs' mother, Debbie, threw a strike to Andrew Heaney for the ceremonial first pitch. "It brings the emotion back, but I don't want to say it's a negative thing". Skaggs was likely the most reliable starting pitcher in an up-and-down rotation that has kept Los Angeles stuck near.500, with fading hopes of ending their almost decade-long playoff victory drought.

His jersey hung in his untouched locker in the clubhouse, his pristine cleats and gloves ready for a ballgame.

"He's still a part of the team, even though he's not here", Angels manager Brad Ausmus said before the game.

The Angels will spend the rest of the summer trying to make more happy memories to compete with the sadness they'll never entirely forget. We're around each other all day, every day.
