Brace yourself as asteroid larger than Giza Pyramid hurls towards Earth

Following Earth's near-collision with an asteroid during the weekend, a scientist warned that an impact event is inevitable. The warning came after 2006 QQ23, an asteroid bigger than the Eiffel Tower, narrowly missed the planet.

Any cosmic projectile with a minimum approach distance of less than 0.05 astronomical units and measuring over 460 feet in diameter is considered by NASA to be "potentially hazardous." .

Scientists revealed that this week, an asteroid called as a "city killer" came closer to the Earth than the moon and they had no idea about the same.

Following the asteroid's visit, Danica Remy, the current president of the asteroid-hunting non-profit organization B612 Foundation in California, said that an asteroid smashing into Earth is bound to happen.

Speaking to NBC News, he stated: "It's 100 % sure that we're going to get hit".

NASA believes that any space rock that passes at a distance of 7.5 million kilometres from the Earth is potentially hazardous. Due to their massive sizes, these asteroids can be easily identified and detected by space agencies.

Trump Administration Releasing New Rules for Chinese Tech Ban
Huawei also faces sanctions that bar the export of U.S. technology to the firm on national security grounds. Huawei has repeatedly denied it is controlled by the Chinese government, military or intelligence services.

In accordance with the Astronomers, this asteroid causes no fast menace.

"Potentially hazardous asteroids are now defined based on parameters that measure the asteroid's potential to make threatening close approaches to the Earth", CNEOS said in a statement.

"Nevertheless, it's still going to have a global impact on transportation, networking, weather, and climate".

Due to the closeness of the asteroid's intersection with Earth's orbit, it was classified by CNEOS as potentially hazardous.

Are there any actual "doomsday" asteroids we should be anxious about on Asteroid Day 2015?
