Teen's tweets from her smart fridge go viral after mother confiscates phone

Tech-deprived teen cant handle the hell of a phone-less world uses refrigerator to Tweet

It wasn't long before her "fridge Tweet" went viral, receiving nearly 20,000 retweets and 77,000 likes.

The teen was able to continue tweeting on the Nintendo DS, but her mother caught her in the act and threatened to shut down the account. She continues by letting her followers know that they are sweet and she will be adding them on facebook.

Oh, and lest you think Dorothy doesn't have corporate backing, both Twitter and LG have used the #FreeDorothy hashtag to tweet their support as well.

According to the Guardian, the punishment came as a result of Dorothy causing a fire by not paying attention while cooking. The Guardian got the details about the teenager's situation. She figured out a way to send messages from another video game device, her Wii. "My mom uses it to google recipes for baking so I just googled Twitter", she told CBS News. "I've been bored all summer and twitter passes the time for me", she said. She tweeted, along with a photo of Ariana Grande looking distressed: "my mom took my phone. ill miss u all sm.im crying. goodbye".

Two days later, on August 8, Dorothy sent a tweet to say that her devices had, again, been taken this time turning to the LG Smart Refrigerator.

But she was found out again, and her mom confiscated her 3DS.

Not to be silenced, Dorothy then used a Nintendo Wii - but that too was rumbled.

He added: 'We are a bilingual family. "Hate will not overcome love, hate will not define who we are", he said. Police posted a surveillance photo of the man to Facebook, asking for help to identify him.

Dorothy said that her phone was confiscated, and she posted tweets that were labelled as coming from her Nintendo Wii U, her Nintendo 3DS, and, finally, the family fridge. While it's possible to simply configure the refrigerator to be offline, she explained that her mother doesn't know how.

But on August 8, Dorothy's predicament took another turn.

However, the narrative behind the tweet has prompted skepticism after BuzzFeed demonstrated that the tweet's source label - "LG Smart Refrigerator" - can easily be faked.

While she now has more fans, Dorothy's mom was not amused by her inventive tweeting methods.

The userwas anxious about losing her "mutuals" - accounts she follows that follow her back - and devised other ways to get tweets out. Each of the tweets on the game devices included automatic hashtags from the applications they were sent from. "I may be late to reply, as it is hard to find something to use Twitter", she told the Guardian. But LG did confirm their refrigerators have social media capabilities, and the tweet source confirms it was sent from the device.

The teen runs an Ariana Grande fan account and couldn't bear to leave her followers in the dark with updates about the pop star.
