Taliban warn suspended peace talks will only hurt US

US President Donald Trump

The Taliban movement (outlawed in Russia) may start combat actions if the United States ultimately refuses to carry out negotiations with the movement's representatives on the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, said spokesman for the Taliban movement Zabiullah Mujahid, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"If Trump wants to stop talks, we will take the first way and they will soon regret it", he added. The Taliban leaders were to travel to U.S. to have a peace talk with the USA president in the weekend, but now it will not be possible.

The US President Donald Trump said that he had cancelled the, talk with the Taliban leaders.

'Over the last four days, we have been hitting our Enemy harder than at any time in the last ten years!,' he wrote in a tweet.

The announcement adopted Trump's dramatic cancellation of a top-secret plan to fly Taliban leaders in for direct talks on the Camp David presidential facility outdoors Washington. Along with this, he said that the harsh attacks on the Taliban by the USA in the last four days were not done in the last 10 years. We have been there for 19 years, and we are now really policemen in Afghanistan, ” he said.

"They (the Taliban) thought that (they) had to kill people in order to put themselves in a little better-negotiating position".

The cancellation came after the Taliban suicide attack on September 5 in Kabul.

Responding to a question, Trump said that he has a specific number of troops that he would withdraw from Afghanistan, but would not tell the media.

The U.S. went to war against Afghanistan's ruling Taliban a month after 9/11 for harboring al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks that killed almost 3,000 people at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. "That makes my blood boil", said Tallon, who lost her brother, probationary firefighter Sean Tallon.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on negotiations that it is unclear if the US-Taliban talks are permanently over or only paused.

Senator Mitt Romney said that "it wouldn't have been my choice to have the Taliban at Camp David" - an opinion echoed by Senator Ron Johnson, who said he was "glad" the talks were not held there. As far as I'm concerned, they're dead.

Three days later, three explosions rocked Kabul, killing dozens of people, including a USA soldier.

'I don't see where those negotiations go.

The Taliban "are the people who are partially responsible for our loved ones dying and other Americans dying", Riches said, but "I'd like to see it end".

"I'm all for some kind of negotiated peace to bring our guys and gals back home, but it has to be the correct type of peace where the Taliban and al-Qaida are told point-blank. any violation at all will be dealt with swiftly and with a lot of strength", said Ielpi, a National Sept. 11 Memorial & Museum board member.

Khalilzad had said in Kabul that he had reached an agreement in principle with the Taliban. We wanted to leave (from Afghanistan) but we will leave in due time.

It is widely thought that Trump has been pushing for a withdrawal of United States troops in time for his 2020 reelection bid.
