Dark Mode for Gmail Begins Official Roll Out

Gmail dark mode is now rolling out to Android devices, blinding light begone

Finally, Android 10 finally has a real dark theme, only the latest example of Google apps picking up a dark theme that plugs into Android 10.

Google has brought dark mode to most of its apps and the latest app to officially get this feature is the Gmail app.

The latest version of the Gmail app for Android is said to be available with version 2019.08.18.267044774, which is now available on Play Store.

Take a look at the new dark mode for the Play Store below. Although XDA claims to have tinkered with the Play Store, it's said that Google is rolling out the Dark Theme in Play Store only to selected Pixel users running Android 10. Should you tap that, you'll get options to force Gmail to be light or dark, or you can let it respond to your system theme. If you're using Files by Google regularly, you'll notice that there's a new dark theme option available which saves battery life and reduces eye strain. One can see that there are still some coloured elements to highlight the labels, inbox and other sections.

New Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trailer Shows Turks, Summons, and Squatting
The release date for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was also revealed at E3 2019 and a playable demo was available on the show floor. It clearly says " New Trailer " atop the timer, so we can presumably expect one of those to go live once the timer hits zero.

The search bar uses a lighter shade of grey to provide a better visual distinction. Those of you still running Pie are stuck with the bright white background for now.

As for when the rest of us will get Android 10 and eventually the Gmail dark mode, that remains to be seen. However, elements such as the send arrow or URLs in the body are seen in a different colour so one can make a difference between a text and a URL.

If you update and want to look for it, head into Gmail settings and you should see a "Theme" choice at the top, above your "Default notification action".
