Jets sign Sam Ficken to solve kicking woes, waive Vedvik

Los Angeles Rams kicker Sam Ficken kicks the ball as punter Johnny Hekker holds during an NFL football game against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Sept. 27 2018 in Los Angeles. Los Angeles won 38-31

He was most recently with Green Bay Packers, going 5-for-5 on extra points during the preseason while making his lone field goal attempt from 41 yards out.

The Bills beat the New York Jets 17-16 and the blame has been placed on Kaare Vedvik a bit.

The New York Jets have been frantically searching for a kicker ever since veteran Chandler Catanzaro shockingly retired this summer.

NY signed free agent Sam Ficken after he won the team's kicking tryout on Tuesday. He has hit from 21, 23 and 34 yards, missed from 28, 36 and 46 yards and is 14 of 15 on extra points.

Williams falls short of grand slam record
Impressed by her rival's sportsmanship after the match, Williams called Andreescu an "old soul". Williams, who turns 38 later this month, was gracious in defeat.

The Jets let Pro Bowl kicker Jason Myers leave for Seattle in free agency. He missed two extra points in his first game, and then kicked two field goals to account for all the scoring in a 6-0 victory over Philadelphia - but missed three other attempts. He was eventually picked up by the New York Jets before the start of the regular season and he entered Week 1 as their starting kicker. Ficken played two games for the Rams last season while Pro Bowler Greg Zeurlein was out.

On Monday, coach Adam Gase expressed his frustration, saying, "What do you want me to do?" However, the Rams re-signed him in September and he kicked in a few regular-season games before being released in October. But they had some help from Vedvik. The Jets picked him up off waivers ahead of their season opener.

So who's the new kicker? "I don't even remember what was discussed".
