Activision strikes while the iron is cold with Call of Duty

Call of Duty Mobile announced for iOS, Android, made by China's Tencent

Coming courtesy of Activision and Tencent Games, the announcement trailer for the game, called simply Call of Duty: Mobile, dropped yesterday.

The Activision announced its new game Call of Duty Mobile, an exclusive title for mobile devices that will be released for the operating systems Android and iOS. While it might be hard to tell from the trailer, we reckon this could be the game that takes Fortnite's crown as the best, or at least the most popular, multiplayer experience on mobile.

If you're in the market for a new mobile distraction, you can pre-register right now. Keep in mind that if you're looking for a single-player shooting experience, Call of Duty: Mobile won't satisfy your needs.

Call of Duty is taking a new direction with Modern Warfare later this year, and the series is also taking the old direction to a new platform with Call of Duty: Mobile.

Interested individuals who would like to try out what the new game has to offer will be able to do so in a public beta that will be taking place this summer in a select amount of regions.

The game would be available to download for Free on both Android and iOS and will feature different game modes like - Free4All, Search & Destroy, Team Deathmatch, and Frontline.

At release CoD Mobile will be available in Europe, North America, South America and other countries too. Not only is there a version of the classic Zombies mode, but even a mobile version of COD's Blackout Battle Royale mode. There has been a few over the years, including Call of Duty: Strike Team and Call of Duty: Heroes.

"Call of Duty is synonymous with incredible quality and gameplay, and our team couldn't be happier working together with Activision to bring it to life on mobile", said Steven Ma, SVP, Tencent Holdings Limited. The game would be free to play.

Screenshots of a mobile iteration for Call of Duty had previously leaked. Activision has also revealed that "other modes" besides PvP will be revealed at a later date.

The game is co-developed with Tencent, the world's largest gaming company, and a veteran when it comes to the Call of Duty franchise.
