Pakistan rout Sri Lanka by 5 wickets to claim series

Live Updates – Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd ODI

The first game of the series was abandoned without a ball bowled due to heavy rain in Karachi.

Pakistan now lead the three-match series against Sri Lanka 1-0. Faheem last played for Pakistan in a five-match away ODI series against England in May this year.

Chasing 298 for victory, Pakistan rode Zaman's 76 from 91 balls (7x4, 1x6) and Ali's 74 off 67 balls (10x4) to set the tone early on as the pair added 123 for the opening wicket.

Thus the tourists have everything to play for at the National Stadium here on Wednesday as they bid to prevent Sarfraz Ahmed's charges from clinching the One-day global leg of this limited-overs tour.

Babar Azam, who struck a brilliant hundred in the second game, made 31 before being trapped lbw by Pradeep while skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed managed 23.

Sri Lanka outclass Pakistan by 35 runs to claim T20 series
The two left-handers hit a pair of sixes and a boundary off leg-spinner Shadab Khan before both fell in the space of seven runs. Sri Lanka , meanwhile, will be aiming to seal the first T20I series after losing all four of their most recent T20I series.

Wicketkeeper batsman Bhanuka will make his one-day worldwide debut.

Besides the duo, Faheem Ashraf-who missed out on a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) central contract this year-has also been called back into the national squad against Sri Lanka.

Gunathilaka hit 16 fours and a six in an innings that was finally ended in the 45th over when he was removed by a Mohammad Amir yorker.

Gunathilaka, suspended twice for breaches of discipline in the last two years, held the innings together with stands of 88 with skipper Lahiru Thirimanne (36) for the second wicket, 50 for the third with Angelo Perera (13) and 74 with debutant Minod Bhanuka (36) for the fourth. However, during Pakistan's third ODI win, Pakistan's ICC Champions Trophy winning captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed scripted history.

The three-match series will be played on October 5, 7, 9 respectively at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
