Robert Downey Jr. Responds To Martin Scorsese's Comments About Superhero Movies

"It's his opinion. I mean, well, it plays in theatres". I tried, you know?

That seems like a unusual reason to turn down a potential Oscar nom - anyone brought to tears by Iron Man's final moments can't argue that Downey doesn't deserves a nod - but whatever floats your boat. Many MCU fans were disappointed to find out that Robert Downey Jr. wasn't included on the list for the Best Actor Category for his incredible and memorable performance as Tony Stark/.

The Avengers continue to assemble in the wake of legendary director Martin Scorsese's comments about Marvel movies.

"I'll tell you the truth, I didn't expect [the MCU] to become what it became and it is this very large, multi-headed Hydra at this point", he said.

"Of course he's not jealous of the success", Downey said. According to the Oscar-nominated actor, execs of a "certain status" in Hollywood "are the master of their environment", and typically take issue when they can't assert control over others.

During his conversation with the "Iron Man" star, Downey Jr. told Stern he was involved in an argument in the green room right before he came into the studio.

When asked about this during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Downey explained that Disney wasn't the one who decided not to include him in Endgame's Oscars campaign, revealing that it was his decision not to participate in the lineup.

The Nats still haven't come back down to earth after their come-from-behind victory in the NL Wild Card game against the Brewers. Cody Bellinger led off with a single but appeared on his way to being stranded after Patrick Corbin fanned the next two batters.

"It's his opinion", said Downey Jr.

"There's a lot to be said for how these genre movies - and I was happy to be part of the "problem" if there is one - denigrated the era, the art form, of cinema".

'When you come in like a stomping beast and you eliminate competition in such a demonstrative way, it's phenomenal'. "It isn't the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being".

'Everybody's got an opinion, so I mean it's okay.

'I was outraged when people picketed The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen the film. "That said, I will always love Scorsese, be grateful for his contribution to cinema, and can't wait to see 'The Irishman'". "It's not going to stop anyone from making movies", Jackson said.

James Gunn, the writer-director of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise, took to Twitter to express his disappointment.
