Kevin Hart crash caused by reckless driving, no seatbelts

The man behind the wheel of comedian Kevin Hart's car was driving recklessly and caused the Sept. 1 crash that seriously injured Hart according to a new report

It has been determined that reckless driving was the cause of Kevin Hart's near-fatal accident in California, which resulted in the star requiring months of physical rehabilitation and major surgeries to fix his back.

Hart has been off the scene since the accident.

The CHP report noted that Black was turning onto Mulholland Highway near Malibu when he accelerated and lost control of the Barracuda. It then plunged down an embankment and hit a tree.

The blue Barracuda crashed about 10 feet off the road and into a ditch, leaving Black and the comedian with "major back injuries", TMZ reported. The vehicle did not have any mechanical issues, so it was driver error.

Jared Black was turning on to Mulholland Highway near Malibu early on September 1 when he accelerated and lost control while driving the comic actor's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, the report from the California Highway Patrol said on Thursday.

"I have nothing but love for Jared and wish him and Rebecca a speedy recovery", Hart said in a statement released through his attorney later Thursday.

Attorney Andrew Brettler told Entertainment Weekly in a statement that Hart won't return to work fully until 2020, despite doing a promotional photo shoot for Jumanji: The Next Level last week. "Hart doesn't anticipate going back to work full time until early next year, assuming everything stays on track with his physical therapy", Brettler added. He is said to be determined to fulfil his commitments as best he can and has been on set for the marketing campaign for two hours a day on Monday and Tuesday.

Hart has even returned to work on the sequel to the blockbuster Jumanji with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Eniko Parrish, left, and Kevin Hart arrive at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Calif., on January 10, 2016.
