Shepard Smith Is Leaving Fox News

Shepard Smith Is Leaving Fox News

Today's edition of Shepard Smith Reporting was his final show, during which he addressed his decision.

Chris Giglio, a spokesperson for Smith, dismissed speculation the anchor was forced out of the network.

"Oh that's a shame", Trump said, mockingly.

A former Fox staffer who has recently been in touch with Smith said that the spat with Carlson was a last straw, and that Smith had grown frustrated in recent months by the repeated attacks on the news division by other opinion hosts.

Smith was no exception to the feud between opinion and news.

Two weeks ago, Smith clashed with Tucker Carlson when an analyst on Smith's program, Andrew Napolitano, said that it was a crime for President Trump to solicit aid for his campaign from a foreign government, in this case the Ukraine. He was close to network founder Roger Ailes andpaid a moving tribute to him after his death in May 2017, almost a year after Ailes left amid widespread allegations of sexual harassment. "It's been an honor and a privilege to report the news each day to our loyal audience in context and with perspective, without fear or favor", he added in a statement released by Fox News.

Trump's European Union ambassador to testify after Democrats' subpoena
She concluded by expressing "deep disappointment and dismay" she felt as the events in Ukraine unfolded, including her removal. Lutsenko accused Yovanovitch of obstructing Ukrainian investigations and providing the USA with "evidence" of wrongdoing.

Smith also traded barbs with pro-Trump hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham in 2018. Fox declined comment; Smith was not available for an interview. Here's a clearly unsuspecting Covuto uttering a breathless "whoa" before saying that he's "a little stunned and heartbroken" immediately after the 3-to-4 p.m. handoff.

"Even in our now polarized nation, it's my hope that the facts will win the day". The host later said he was "shell-shocked" by the news.

"Everyone is in complete shock", said a Fox employee.

Stelter and Burnett commended Smith as someone who kept "consistently rebutting the president's lies".

In March, Smith took issue with Trump's criticism of the late Republican Senator John McCain, and in August Smith spoke out about the "unmistakable rise of white nationalism and white racism in America" which Democrats say Trump has not done enough to discourage.

Going forward, Fox said a rotating series of news anchors would fill Smith's long-occupied time slot.
