Xi, Modi Vow To Defeat 'Radicalization' Amid Dispute Over Kashmir

Abandoned Lake In Mamallapuram Revived Thanks To PM Modi Xi Jinping Meet

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Indian host Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged at an informal summit to cooperate against "radicalisation", India said late on Friday (Oct 11), after the Asian giants with historically prickly ties had exchanged sharp words over Kashmir. After the two-day talks, which mostly confined to the conversations between the two leaders in a relaxed manner followed by delegation-level talks in the end, Xi said "no matter from any point of view, China and India should be good neighbours and good partners who live in harmony and move forward hand in hand". "Both are leaders of countries which are not only large in terms of areas and population but also in terms of diversity".

Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Beijing is ready to take "sincere action" to reduce the trade deficit.

President Xi Jinping said, he is overwhelmed by the warm reception given to him by Tamil Nadu government and its people and government of India, describing it as a memorable one. The two leaders spent five hours of "quality time".

The two countries should make a success of next year's celebration of the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the activities marking the China-India year of cultural and people-to-people exchanges, he said.

According to India's Commerce Ministry, India's exports to China amounted to $13.33 billion in the 2018 financial year, compared with imports of $76.38 billion.

Although security prevented the two men from coming to blows on Friday night, Monday Night Raw saw them come face-to-face. Fury needed 47 stitches to close multiple cuts following the 12-round bout with Wallin.

"There is a new focus on people to people connect between the two countries", he added.

Without going into details, Xi said in his opening remarks at the delegation-level talks that he had taken part in candid and in-depth discussions with Modi on various issues since his arrival Friday. "Both leaders had a general sense that terrorism was a common challenge and that they will work together to overcome it".

"The first informal summit between India and China past year in Wuhan led to fresh stability in our relations and gave a fresh momentum". This is both a statement of confidence and a recognition that for both countries management of a complex relationship and bilateral stability is crucial in the here and now. Xi and his delegation's attention this weekend was divided between Modi and Washington, where China's chief negotiator, Liu He, met his USA counterparts to achieve a bare-bones trade agreement. The Foreign Secretary had earlier denied stating that the Kashmir issue was not raised and discussed by either. He held a one-on-one discussion with Modi on various issues in the coastal historic city of Mamallapuram.

In one of his speeches in Washington during what is now dubbed "the full Jaishankar", the Indian foreign minister said the nearly simultaneous Japan-India-US trilateral and India-China-Russia trilateral meetings denoted some kind of equivalence. Strategic communication between our two countries has also increased.

Xi and Modi met over dinner for more than two hours on Friday after the Indian prime minister took the Chinese president around an ancient temple and some other monuments that are part of UNESCO's world heritage sites in Mamallapuram. PM Modi has accepted the invitation.
