A Wisconsin police chief says an officer shot an armed male student at a suburban Milwaukee high school after the suspect refused to disarm and pointed his gun at officers.
The suspect is in stable condition, Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack told reporters.
Waukesha police say a suspect has been taken into custody after gunshots were fired inside Waukesha South High School on Monday morning, WITI reports.
Waukesha South is on lockdown as is Whittier Elementary School which is nearby.

Students were dismissed for the day at 11:15 a.m., according to a statement from the school's principal. He credited the partnership between the city and the school for bringing the school resource officer to the campus, as well as the police department, fire department and school district for working to prepare students for such incidents.
