General Election 2019: Polling stations open in East

If you do just one thing on Thursday make sure you vote

The United Kingdom votes on Thursday in what both Conservative and Labour politicians have called the most important general election in a generation.

Here's some information on voting that we hope you find useful.

More than 1,000 polling stations in NI opened at 7am on Thursday and will close at 10pm, with counting to begin overnight.

You do not need to have your polling card with you.

There's a 15-hour window of opportunity to vote on polling day, which should give you ample time to get down to your polling station to cast your ballot.

Voters will receive a poll card in the post, informing them about when to vote and at which polling station.

Maguire says top four in sight for improving Man Utd
United want to reward the academy youngster by giving him fresh terms on his current £30,000-a-week deal. Speaking after the match, Fred said: "Unfortunately, we are still in a backward society".

The polling station is likely to be some sort of public building, such as a school or community hall, near to your home address.

So long as you were previously registered to vote, or registered by November 26 and are not disqualified for any reason, you will have been sent a poll card to your address.

For any other constituencies, enter your postcode on the Democracy Club's Who Can I Vote For? page.

All polling stations will be closed promptly at 10pm, if you arrive after 10pm you will not be allowed to vote.

Well, do not despair - you might still be able to vote.

The deadline to register for the election has passed so anyone who has not already registered can not take part.
