Google Assistant to get more features in 2020

Google expects its voice assistant to be running on 1 billion devices.

Google doubles down on getting its Google Assistant everywhere. The Assistant replaced the sticky notes with digital notes on the smart display. The note will be displayed on-screen for household users to view when they walk past or interact with the device. You know, when you assigned a number to a contact so that you didn't have to dial all the digits? For instance, you'll be able to say, "Hey Google, go away a word that claims I already fed Max breakfast".

Unlike numerous other massive brands at CES 2020, Google didn't bring any new hardware to Las Vegas, but the company did have some announcements to make. You can ask Google Assistant to turn on/ off or start/ stop a compatible device at the time of your choosing. The company has reiterated that, pointing to more universal support for everything from AC units and air purifiers to bathtubs, coffee makers, and vacuums.

If you're building a smart home - a home full of smart technologies - Google is gearing up for Google Assistant to become a housekeeper.

Amazon offers an Alexa smartphone app too, but the Google Assistant is directly accessible by default on some Android phones - including Google's own Pixel smartphone lineup - just by pressing and holding the home button. For example, Google wants Assistant to read long-form content on your phone by saying "Hey Google, read it" or "Hey Google, read this page" when you are viewing an article. It can even translate. Google says it's also looking into ways to auto-scroll webpages as the Assistant reads, as well as automatically highlight text. They are expanding to more global airports and lounges, banks, and hotels as well as for other things like managing live sports events, organizations involved in humanitarian efforts. It's now unclear how this will work, however.

Pete Buttigieg surges and Elizabeth Warren crashes in New Hampshire poll
In Nevada, another Fox News poll showed Steyer tied with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren in third place at 12 percent. The debate comes just weeks before the February 3 Iowa caucuses, the first voting contest of the primary campaign.

Most people access Google Assistant on their mobile devices or through a smart speaker, but Google said it will soon be possible to do so via more devices. But you can decide if you'd like Google to keep your audio to help improve its products. Google says it's "previewing" it now.

Ex-Google exec Ross LaJeunesse says he's seen huge cultural changes at the company - and not for the best. They can even be created without the need for a Google account.

The networked audio pioneer claims Google knowingly copied its patented speaker technology.

As CES is near, different tech giants are announcing devices and some features that will be unveiled at the event. People can also use voice commands like, "Hey Google, delete everything I said to you this week" and all the Assistant activity from your Google Account will be deleted easily. But consumers were not always aware of it. Workers who listened heard all kinds of personal information, including home addresses and intimate conversations. For this year's round of updates, the Assistant will be able to work with the Philips Hue HDMI Sync Box to sync Philips Hue smart lights with your TV.
