You can see John Cho and Issa Rae announce all of the nominees for this year's awards in the video embedded above. The movie has been nominated for best picture, Martin Scorsese has landed an achievement in directing nod, and both Al Pacino and Joe Pesci have received nominations for best performance by an actor in a supporting role.

Female directors were also shut out of the 2020 Oscar nominations: Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), and Lulu Wang (The Farewell) were not featured under the Best Director category.

Lina Wertmüller was the first woman ever nominated for Best Director, for 1977's Seven Beauties.

Well-deserving actors and artists got their nods, while some of the finest work of the year was completely ignored per the Oscars' unadventurous prerogative, and a few freaky nominations just made no sense at all.

The first woman in Academy Awards history to take home the prize did so 82 years after the first Oscar was handed out.

"Parasite", from South Korea, is the sixth film to be nominated for best global film - before this year known as best foreign language film - and for best picture in the same year. They really do deserve more recognition. But... The then 33-year-old made her solo directorial debut with the coming-of-age film, starring Saoirse Ronan, and she was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. All in all, the film was nominated for five awards, though didn't win any.
