Yo Gotti, Team Roc File Lawsuit on Behalf of Mississippi Prisoners

Gotti and Jay-Z attend Roc Nation THE BRUNCH at One World Observatory

Rapper Jay-Z on Tuesday sued two MS prison officials on behalf of 29 inmates who say authorities did nothing to stop violence that has killed five prisoners in the last two weeks, NBC News reported.

The claim, documented by Jay-Z's attorney Alex Spiro in the US District Court in Greenville, Mississippi, says "these passings are an immediate effect of Mississippi's absolute negligence for the individuals it has imprisoned and their sacred rights", as per the report. The suit, filed on behalf of 29 prisoners, claims authorities have done nothing to stop violence that killed five prisoners recently, NBC News reports.

"The conditions in the prisons operated by the Mississippi Department of Corrections are absolutely inhumane and unconstitutional", he said in a press statement last week.

Memphis rapper Yo Gotti and JAY Z take prison reform very seriously in 2020.

This legal action comes on the heels of Gotti's threat aimed at state officials over the recent accounts of extreme violence resulting in five deaths, two escapes, and multiple uprisings, many instances occurring at Mississippi State Penitentiary, aka Parchman Farm.

And even the Sussexes' own aides were said to be stunned as they had been kept in the dark - and felt "stabbed in the back". Their decision has sparked outrage - with Prince Charles "incandescent with rage" and the Queen said to be "disappointed".

Jay-Z and Gotti beforehand mentioned in a letter that Spiro despatched to Corridor and Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant that they had been "ready to pursue all potential avenues to acquire reduction for the individuals residing in Mississippi's prisons and their households".

According to the complaint, the inmates are suing the commissioner of the Mississippi Corrections Department, Pelicia E. Hall, and Supt.

In a statement to NBC News, Mr Spiro said: "We can not treat people this way and it's time to do something about it". As Mississippi has incarcerated rising numbers of individuals, it has dramatically diminished its funding of prisons.

"People are forced to live in squalor, with rats that crawl over them as they sleep on the floor, having been denied even a mattress for a cot", his letter said. All the plaintiffs in the lawsuit are inmates at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, where three of the deaths occurred during the two-week span of December 29 and January 3.
