Madonna cancels another show: ‘I must listen to my body and rest’

Madonna cancels Madame X tour date with 45 minutes notice

Madonna has cancelled eight shows in total - in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami and Lisbon - on the Madame X Tour to date, citing production issues, injuries and scheduling limitations.

Madonna wrote on Instagram: "Sorry I had to cancel tonight but I must listen to my body and rest!"

It's not the first time Madonna has cancelled performances while being on tour this time round, as back in November she was told to "step back" from performing by doctors.

Last week, she was wearing knee braces in a video she posted to Instagram.

"How an injured Madame ❌ warms up for a show ... very carefully!" she captioned the vid.

Madonna began the current stage of her Madame X tour in Portugal's Coliseu Dis Recreios theatre on 12 January, and had seemed to be in good spirits, interacting with the crowd and drinking port on stage. She recently posted snaps online showing her taking an ice bath to soothe her pain.

She added that "fingers crossed" she would be well enough to perform on Tuesday night.

After wrapping in Lisbon on 23 January, the Holiday star will head to London, England for 15 nights at the London Palladium, before ending the jaunt in Paris, France in March.

She also joked about her "25 injuries" and told the audience "don't pay attention to what goes on from the waist down", reported Lisbon-based music magazine Blitz.

USA singer Madonna performs during the Rebel Heart World Tour in Macau, China, Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016.

With stage time scheduled for 8.30pm, it gave fans only 45 minutes warning that the show had been pulled.

The pop star later took to Instagram, and shared her apologies with fans.
