Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO & vivo are working together to challenge Google Play Store

AI-powered astrology no longer on your Android phone

Reuters lists down Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo as the companies behind GDSA. And their presence in the Asian, European, and South American continents have risen to all-time highs. Like Google Play Store, this alternative will include many social apps, mobile games, music, food, and many more.

A March launch date had initially been the target but it is unclear whether this is still realistic.

Its stated goal is to provide "one-stop services including content distribution, development support, marketing operation, brand promotion and traffic monetisation to global developers".

Although we're sure the complexity of the situation is likely to raise some confusion, Reuters is clear that the four companies aren't working together to make a single app store - far from it, they're collaborating to "create a platform for developers outside China to upload apps onto all of their app stores [emphasis ours] simultaneously". Xiaomi, one of the members of the new alliance, has denied Huawei's involvement. Google also did not respond to a request to comment on the matter.

However, a prototype of the website revealed the GDSA will cover nine countries initially, including India, Indonesia, and Russian Federation.

But Nicole Peng also pointed out that managing this alliance can be a challenge. As part of this, Google yanked the Play Store and additional services from future shipments of Huawei smartphones.

WestJet flight diverts back to Toronto after passenger's coronavirus claim
When the flight made way back to Toronto , James as assessed by medical personal and cleared for any Coronavirus . Potok was later charged with mischief and breach of recognizance and will be produced in court on March 9.

"App store, pre-loading apps, advertisements and gaming are areas that could generate new revenue", he said.

IDC smartphone analyst Will Wong thinks because of low hardware sales, Chinese handset makers are trying to grab a bigger share of software and services.

None of the companies have confirmed the report, though Huawei was already known to be expanding its own store and mobile OS efforts because of its blacklisting by the USA government.

"By making it simple for developers to increase their reach across multiple app stores, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi stand to attract more developers and, ultimately, more apps", said Williams.

It remains to be seen how the firms will maintain a balance of power in their alliance.
