CDC: Coronavirus test kits shipped across U.S. are faulty

According to UC San Diego Health, they report caring for three patients who were transferred from federal quarantine at MCAS Miramar.

Hundreds of people, including U.S. State Department employees and their families, were brought to military bases in Texas, California and Nebraska aboard chartered flights from Wuhan, a city of 11 million that is at the center of the outbreak.

The Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday announced a person in the state is being tested for the deadly coronavirus, marking the first potential case of the pneumonia-like illness in Maine. The state gave no additional information on the person aside from saying they weren't associated with Colby College, which chose last week to isolate students who recently traveled to China in a hotel as a precaution though they showed no symptoms.

"The individual is now isolated and receiving medical care at a designated hospital nearby", the CDC said. After being taken to Rady Children's Hospital for testing, CDC officials said the child's tests came back negative and the child was allowed to return to MCAS Miramar with the "evacuee population" that is under quarantine.

The CDC on Tuesday released 195 people from quarantine at March Air Reserve Base in California after holding them there for 14 days.

The other confirmed cases in the United States are in California, Arizona, Washington state, Illinois, and MA.

In all, Japan has 247 confirmed cases of the new virus that apparently started in Wuhan.

A trial run in some states produced "inconclusive" results that appear to have been caused by a defective enzyme, Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said during a press conference, according to Reuters. There have only been two deaths reported outside of China: one in the Philippines and one in Japan. Traffic remained light in Beijing and many people were still working at home.

Officials are seeing "fewer and fewer travelers from China, especially from Hubei province", which includes Wuhan, Messonnier said.

The Southern Nevada Health District confirmed this on Wednesday and said it is looking into the possible 'performance issues.
