British Bloke Called Coronavirus “Superspreader” After Being Linked To 11 Confirmed Cases

A British coronavirus "super spreader" who may have infected almost a dozen other people has been released from the hospital after recovering from the deadly illness, according to reports.

Steve Walsh, 53, traveled to Singapore for a business conference in January.

He said up to 60% of people could become infected, with most suffering mild symptoms.

In a statement provided by Servomex, Walsh said he was told to attend hospital in the United Kingdom upon learning he had encountered someone with coronavirus.

Steve Walsh issued a statement from Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital after catching the virus on a business trip in Singapore.

Walsh said in his statement Tuesday that he contacted his doctor and health authorities as soon as he knew he had been exposed to a confirmed case of coronavirus.

"They advised me to enter the hospital despite having no symptoms", he said, "and when they confirmed me as positive, they transferred me to the isolation unit that I am in now and I am completely cured".

"It's good to be back with my family and I would ask you please to respect our privacy from this point on".

Walsh had attended a conference at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Singapore hosted by the gas analysis company Servomex.

Bangladesh and India players penalised after altercation
As soon as the match ended, it became tense with Bangladeshi players rushing to the ground and display aggressive body language. One suspension point equals to a player being ineligible for one ODI or T20I, Under-19 or A team global match.

Bob Saynor and his nine-year-old son are both in a French hospital.

The Daily Mail said that on his return, Mr Walsh went to his local pub in Hove, Brighton and attended a group yoga session at his church.

A council spokesperson said: "We do not comment individual coronavirus cases because of patient confidentiality. We took him back yesterday morning, and as we arrived home at about 1pm we got a call from Worthing A&E".

Mr Paul Cosford, a former director of Public Health England, said the risk to patients of the Brighton clinic remained small. A super-spreader is someone who passes on a pathogen to an unusually large number of people. "As such, he could be termed a super-spreader", infectious diseases expert Dr. Andrew Freedman told The Guardian.

"We will be - and have already been - identifying the people who have been in particularly close contact".

On Monday England's Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty announced another four cases in the United Kingdom, taking the total to eight.

A source told the PA news agency on Tuesday that one of the Global Positioning System, who was a locum at County Oak Medical Centre, had only carried out one day of admin work there recently and had not had any direct contact with patients.

A taxi driver told to self-isolate as a precaution after contact with a coronavirus patient twice drove a child to a special needs school before he was informed.

He further spread the virus to at least 11 others who he came in contact with, these include the five Britons who tested positive in France and one Briton who tested positive in Spain.
