Songwriter and ‘Good Times’ actress Ja’Net DuBois dies

We're told Ja'net hadn't complained of any specific ailments recently, and appeared to be in good health to those around her.

Ja'Net DuBois, known for her turn as Willona Woods on "Good Times", was found dead in her Glendale, Calif. home on Tuesday.

She appeared in tons of movies over the years, including "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka", "Tropic Thunder" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle".

She is also the composer and singer behind the theme song for The Jeffersons, called Movin' On Up.

"Good Times", would be what she was best known for but Dubois also had talent as a musical artist.

DuBois' career started in theater, where she appeared in Broadway productions of "Golden Boy" and "A Raisin in the Sun", according to a biography on her website. From 1970-1972 she was in a soap opera "Love of Life", as Loretta Allen.

DuBois had a prolific career beyond the 1970s hit "Good Times", winning two Emmy Awards for her voice work on the WB series "The PJs".

The actress is survived by three children: Yovanne DuBois, Burghardt DuBois and Rani DuBois, who had roles on "Good Times" and "What's Happening!"

Ja'net had roles in a few series in the seventies, including Sanford and Son, Shaft, Kojak, Caribe and Roots: The Next Generation as Sally Harvey. From there, she went on to act in the TV film "J.T." and "Diary of a Mad Housewife".

However, her most notable role was neighbor and gossip maven Willona Woods in TV show Good Times from 1974 to 1979.
