Karl-Anthony Towns posts emotional video revealing his mom has coronavirus

Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns shared an emotional video on social media Tuesday night in which he revealed that his mother is in dire condition due to the coronavirus.

Unfortunately, tests are only part of the battle, as there is now no real treatment for coronavirus, and on Tuesday, KAT provided us with a sobering wake-up call in a video where he revealed his mother has been placed in a medically-induced coma due to the disease.

He said his mother and father both felt ill before they went to a hospital to be tested for the coronavirus. "I don't think anyone really understood what it was". I was doing everything I could.

His mother's fever wouldn't subside, Towns said, and respiratory issues soon made the situation worse.

"Things went sideways quick and her lungs were extremely getting worse", the National Basketball Association star said in the video.

Towns was visibly upset but said he was staying upbeat for the sake of his mother and his family.

"I felt she was turning a corner", Towns said, describing a brief stint of progress. It's very hard for me and my family, to say the least. She is the head of our household. She was then placed in a medically-induced coma.

"She just wasn't getting better", Towns said. "(We) always felt the next medicine would help, the next medicine would help, this is the one that is going to get it done", Towns said.

"This disease needs not to be taken lightly", KAT said.

"Please protect your families, your loved ones, friends, yourself".

"We need more equipment, and we need to help those medical personnel on the front lines", he said.

He thanked the medical staff who have worked around the clock to provide daily updates and medical care to the Towns family. You are all the true heroes!

At the time of this writing, 55,243 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US, and at least 802 people have died because of the disease. Still am. She just wasn't getting any better.

A little more than a week before he announced his mother's deteriorating health conditions, Towns had pledged to donate $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic.

"My mother, she's the strongest woman I know and I know she'll beat this", he added.
