Special counsel is reportedly investigating Jared Kushner's business dealings

Trump responded to reports he is personally being investigated for obstruction of justice with a characteristic scorched earth defense: claiming mistreatment of historic proportions and calling into question the probity of his accusers.

Mueller, himself a widely respected former head of the FBI, has now taken up the angle of possible efforts by Trump to obstruct justice in the investigation, the Post said.

Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, the reported quoted officials, as saying.

Comey, who was sacked on May 9, told a Senate panel last week he believed Trump dismissed him to undermine the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

Moreover, the Senate intelligence committee has already grilled several high-ranking officials - including Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers and Attorney General Jeff Sessions - about whether Trump sought to interfere with the Russian Federation investigation and the criminal probe into his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn. President seems to have acknowledged this as fact today in a tweet.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Marc Corallo, a spokesman for Trump lawyer Marc Kasowitz told CBS News Wednesday night.

The Senate intelligence committee has also interviewed Johnson in connection with its investigation of Russian activities during last year's election campaign. Trump had wanted Comey to disclose publicly that he wasn't personally under investigation but the FBI director refused to do so. He also told the Senate Intelligence Committee in his June 8 testimony that he believed Trump had directed him to drop a related agency investigation into the president's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Ditching derogatory rhetoric about the Washington "swamp", Trump rallied in support of his fellow politicians and called on the country to pull together.

Brian Harman made birdies on both the par-3s on the back nine to get to 3 under, and shares the lead with Rickie Fowler . Mary Ruediger was visiting her parents who live near Erin Hills golf course when the blimp went down nearby Thursday.

"The Vice-President is focused entirely on his duties and promoting the President's agenda and looks forward to a swift conclusion of this matter", a Pence spokesman said. Last week, the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, said the committee would ask Johnson to testify about interactions former President Barack Obama's administration had with secretaries of state and local election officials about the dangers the Russian hacking posed to election systems.

Those questions were prompted after a friend of President Donald Trump said the White House was considering firing Mueller.

Comey testified that initial explanations that he was sacked because of poor leadership were "lies, plain and simple". Reporter Tony Mauro noted the addition of Dreeben may signal that "Mueller may be seeking advice on complex areas of criminal law, including what constitutes obstruction of justice".

Coats told associates that Trump had asked him if he could intervene with Comey to get the bureau to back off its focus on former national security adviser Michael Flynn in its Russian Federation probe, according to officials.

Comey's carefully worded comments, and those of Andrew McCabe, who took over as acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director, suggested to some officials that a probe of Trump for attempted obstruction may have been launched after Comey's departure, particularly in light of Trump's alleged statements regarding Flynn.

Chatter surfaced earlier this week that the president was considering firing Mueller.

The probe into Kushner's business matters is part of Mueller's wider investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election. It is unclear if McCabe, Comey's successor, has informed Trump of the change in the scope of the probe.
