Final Fantasy 7 remake gameplay trailer is high definition nostalgia

After a lengthy disappearance from the public eye, Square Enix showed off a brand-new trailer for the Final Fantasy VII remake during PlayStation's State of Play stream this afternoon.

The clip ends with Cloud encountering the villainous Sephiroth. There's no word on when it will debut, but we wouldn't be surprised to see this game straddle PlayStation generations.

Plus it gives a tantalising first glimpse of the game's revamped combat system.

The teaser was released on Thursday as part of a new State of Play presentation by Sony that also featured looks at other games such as MediEvil and the upcoming Iceborne expansion coming to Monster Hunter: World. It tells the story of a mercenary named Cloud Strife and his battle against a corrupt megacorporation called Shinra. In response, a Square Enix representative simply pointed us back toward the press release from 2015 that initially revealed the remake would be "a multi-part series", and that they had no further information to share beyond what had already been announced there.

#NeverTrump GOP Senators Messing With Donald Trump Jr
Should he refuse to appear and comply the Senate Intelligence Committee could vote to place him in contempt. Asked if Trump Jr. should fight the subpoena, the President wouldn't say: "Well, we'll see what happens".

Final Fantasy VII Remake has yet to attract a release date, and it's unknown if it will be released on other platforms other than PS4.

The one-minute trailer shows various bits of gameplay, and teases more to come in June.

The trailer eventually closes with one last teaser: Square Enix will offer more details about the Final Fantasy 7 remake in June.
