Trade your flip phone for a smartphone and win $1,000

This company will pay you $1,000 to ditch your smartphone and swap to a flip phone for a week

It could be yours if you're willing to swap your smartphone with a flip phone for a week. The company is doing this to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first flip phone (the Motorola MicroTAC). Frontier is looking for "a self-proclaimed smartphone fiend who's always up to date on the latest tech news".

Would you be willing to give up your smartphone for a week in exchange for $1,000? He or she must also be organized, detail-oriented and have a strong will to win. They will have you track how long it takes to do basic tasks like texting and checking email, how many times you Google something, hours you slept, productivity changes and more.

In return, participants will get $1,000, a physical map (since you won't have GPS), a phone book, a note pad and pen and a collection of swanky 1990 CDs.

Interested applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older.

The lucky person will be announced on July 8.

Frontier says that the goal of this experiment is to help it "understand how much we rely on smartphones and how that affects day-to-day life".
