Thousands of people have taken a Facebook pledge to storm Area 51

More than 286,000 join prank event to storm Area 51 ‘Lets see them aliens

Almost 500,000 people say they plan to raid Area 51 to "see them aliens".

Now, a tongue-in-cheek Facebook event has invited people to swarm the military base on September 20 at 3 a.m.

As of Friday afternoon, more than 466,000 people had signed up.

After all, Area 51 is fiercely guarded by an army of so-called "camo-dudes" whose sole goal in life seems to be to keep trespassers out of the top-secret military base.

"Area 51" is the codename for the highly-classified remote detachment of California's Edwards Air Base, located 83 miles northwest of Las Vegas. One Facebook user even came up with a plan of deploying a squad of amped up Kyles to take on the first wave of guards.

"If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets", said the cheeky event details.

They're all members of a Facebook group created with the intention to "storm" Area 51 and "see them aliens." .

Manchester United left stunned by Newcastle's £50m asking price for Sean Longstaff
Manchester United value the 21-year-old at closer to £20m and they are weighing up what they are willing to offer for the player. The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season last term, after arriving back from a full year on loan in League One with Blackpool.

"Naruto run" refers to the main character in the eponymous Naruto anime, as seen below.

It comes after a range of alleged UFO sightings in the area.

Over 450,000 people want to know what's really the deal with Area 51.

It was founded in 1955 as a test site for the Lockheed U-2 reconnaissance plane.

In 2013, the military admitted that the base existed and claimed that it was a researching and testing facility for top-secret military aircraft.

What takes place inside the heavy-duty fence at Area 51 has remained a mystery to anyone without high-level security clearance, save for a few photos taken illegally by curious conspiracy theorists. USA Today and Fast Company note Area 51 proper, a highly classified section of Edwards Air Force Base, has always been the subject of conspiracy theories about secret experiments by the United States government on everything from ETs to time travel.

NTTR experienced a rare security breach in January when an unidentified male sped through a checkpoint at the entrance.
