Brock Lesnar to face Cain Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel

Tyson Fury will make his official WWE debut on 31 October

Although security prevented the two men from coming to blows on Friday night, Monday Night Raw saw them come face-to-face.

ESPN's Marc Raimondi reports Velasquez signed a "lucrative" WWE contract and has notified UFC of his decision to retire from active competition.

If seeing a shirtless Cain Velasquez make a surprise run-in on WWE SmackDown to attack former UFC foe Brock Lesnar last week in the show's debut episode on Fox wasn't surreal enough, Friday's news cemented a surprisingly sober reality.

WWE announced in a press conference this afternoon in Las Vegas, Nev. that at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31, that Brock Lesnar would defend his WWE Title against Cain Velasquez and Braun Strowman would face Tyson Fury. Velasquez knocked out Lesnar to win the UFC heavyweight title in 2010.

Speaking at the announcement of their bout, Fury said: "I fear no man".

Brexit deal growing more likely, talks with United Kingdom extended
But Johnson has insisted that Britain is leaving on October 31 "do or die" - with or without a divorce deal. Their talks "concentrated on the challenges of customs and consent", their joint statement said.

He holds a 29-0-1 record in professional boxing and is reportedly set to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in a rematch in February, the pair having battled to a thrilling draw last December. Fury needed 47 stitches to close multiple cuts following the 12-round bout with Wallin.

Fury said he was "honoured" to compete in the WWE and described himself as "a lifelong fan" of the sports entertainment organisation.

Velasquez, the two-time UFC heavyweight champion whose never-ending streak of injuries prevented him from fulfilling his potential as the greatest fighter the division has ever seen, will officially never get that chance.

Velasquez was finished by Francis Ngannou in a mere 26 seconds in his most recent outing back in February after a layoff that lasted almost three years. They love it. They're super-excited. I'm so excited to be fighting the monster among men, Braun Strowman.
