Ukrainian President Zelensky: Trump didn't blackmail me during call about Joe Biden

Ukrainian President Denies US President Trump Tried To'Blackmail Him

In his controversial phone call with the President of Ukraine, Donald Trump described her as bad news.

The nature and timing of the previously undisclosed discussions with National Security Council legal adviser John Eisenberg indicate that officials were delivering warnings through official White House channels earlier than previously understood - including before the call that precipitated a whistleblower complaint and the impeachment inquiry of the president.

But others familiar with the matter said the move came after officials became aware of the internal concerns and wanted to prevent additional people from reading the document. He went on to say the call "wasn't linked to weapons or the story with Burisma", the company that employed Hunter.

While Zelensky has made similar claims in recent weeks, the ongoing effort to distance himself from Trump's political mess is notable.

A used comic who won a landslide election victory in April regardless of getting no political expertise, the 41-year-weak Zelenskiy has been unwillingly drawn into a political combat in Washington between Trump and his Democratic opponents. "This was not the subject of our conversation", Zelenskiy said. "When I did find out, I raised it with [U.S. Vice-President Mike] Pence at a meeting in Warsaw", Mr. Zelensky said on Thursday.

The White House, with the belief that the Democrats' impeachment efforts are unconstitutional, refused to cooperate and sent an eight-page letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday addressing the issue. "We are an independent country".

One dead, multiple injuries in New Orleans hotel collapse
The developer was imprisoned before the construction began, and later the project was passed on to another member of his family. So the reach of that crane, if it were to come down has a tremendous amount of weight on it", he said.

Zelenskiy, however, said that if the Normandy talks stall, Kiev would look for other ways to resolve the conflict.

Zelensky said he "didn't even check" to determine whether his government's record of the call matched that of the White House's, but added "I think they match". But the impeachment hearings mean that Ukraine will remain a central player in the US drama through the 2020 presidential election and beyond.

During his July 25 call with Zelenskiy, Trump mentioned CrowdStrike, a security firm hired by the DNC that detected the hack. He spoke Thursday during an unusual, all-day "media marathon" in a Kyiv food court amid growing questions about his actions as president.

Congressional Democrats believe Mr Trump was holding up the aid to use as leverage to pressure Ukraine and advance his domestic political interests ahead of next year's presidential election. No evidence of such a plot has emerged.

Mr Trump has said the United States has an "absolute right" to ask foreign leaders to investigate corruption cases, though no-one has produced evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the Bidens.

Zelenskiy also joked about Trump's Twitter missives, saying he doesn't expect a change in US-Ukrainian relations in the future, 'but if there is, we'll learn about it on Twitter'.
