Ex-speaker Bercow brands Brexit a huge mistake

Sir Lindsay Hoyle has pledged to ensure security for MPs

He said Brexit is bad for investment and for Britain's global status.

Mr Bercow, who last week stood down as speaker after 10 years in the chair, angered many pro-Brexit MPs for what they claimed were moves by him to thwart Brexit. "The foreign policy mistakes of the post-war period are my honest views".

Speaking at a meeting with the Foreign Press Association in London, Mr Bercow, 56, said: "I'm no longer the Speaker, I don't have to be impartial, so if you ask me if I think Brexit is good for our worldwide standing, the honest answer is not, I don't think so".

Former House of Commons Speaker John Bokau called Johnson Brexit "the biggest foreign policy mistake in the post-war period".

He added: "I think The Brexit is the biggest Brexit". I respect [the] prime minister, Boris Johnson, but Brexit doesn't help us.

Speaking to The Linked Press on Thursday, Bercow states "the very best program for the U.K.is to stay" in the EU.

Kim Kardashian was one of the standouts at the 2019 Met Gala thanks to her skintight latex dress from Thierry Mugler. The first music video from a track off Kanye West's latest albumJesus Is King is seemingly on the way.

During a speech in the capital, Mr Bercow stated he expected the Brexit process to rumble on further and admitted it "won't be resolved any time soon".

Sir Lindsay's election was greeted with a flurry of tributes from MPs on his first full day as Speaker.

"Fair to the Brexiteers, to whom I granted urgent questions and emergency debates before the word "Brexiteer" had even been invented".

Hoyle took 325 of the 540 votes in a runoff with Labour colleague Chris Bryant after the seven-member field was winnowed down in three previous voting rounds.

Towards the end of his tenure the Conservatives became increasingly irate with Mr Bercow, especially when the opposition wrested control of the parliamentary timetable to push through legislation making a no-deal Brexit illegal.
