Record cold and snow on the way! Slick later tonight…

Two to four inches of snow are expected for our northern spots with one to two inches of snow in southern counties where the change to snow will happen later. Temperatures in Minneapolis started out in the single digits - the high Monday will only be 17.

Temperatures dropping to the low 20s Tuesday night could break a record of 26 degrees set in 1926. The problem for the commute will be temperatures in the 20s with some snow (probably only an inch or so) and icing on the roadways...so allow some extra time Monday!

NEAR RECORD-BREAKING COLD: The temperatures that arrive in the wake of the cold front that crosses Tuesday will be below average by January standards!

In Chicago, O'Hare International Airport reported snow, 22 degrees, wind gusts to 30 miles per hour, and visibility of a half-mile at 9 a.m. local time Monday. Readings below zero are forecast for parts of Minnesota and temperatures down into the teens are forecast for as far south as Texas. But don't be surprised if you see a light coating of snow on some patches of grass or other cold surfaces.

In Lockport, New York, about 40 minutes north of Buffalo, the forecast calls for 10 inches of snow.

Oil falls after Trump downplays optimistic China trade reports
Most investors expect the Fed to keep interest rates on hold for now after cutting them three times since the summer. Brent for January delivery fell 20 cents to $62.31 on the London-based ICE Futures Europe Exchange.

The coldest morning for the Southeast and the Northeast will be Wednesday morning. Not much melting is expected, as highs tomorrow struggle to get to 20°. New Orleans will see a similarly precipitous drop.

On Wednesday, nearly 100 record lows could be set from the Deep South to the Northeast. Widespread temperatures in the teens are expected from northern Alabama and MS northeast through New England. That will limit how much we are able to cool off, the combination of higher dew points and cloud cover will likely keep us in the mid to upper 30s overnight.

Forecast highs on Wednesday.

If you're heading to a Veteran's Day Parade grab a jacket with a hood just in case. Look for moderation on Friday with readings getting back to the 40s, but it's a return to below-normal temperatures for Saturday.
