Trump's Attorney Says White House Refuses to Participate in Impeachment Hearings

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted the House on Monday for scheduling impeachment hearings while President Donald Trump is overseas. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) listens during a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill September 17, 2019 in Washington, DC.

House Democrats have argued that Trump's communications with Zelensky amount to a "quid pro quo".

Basically, Trump is now saying that he won't participate because he doesn't believe he'll be treated fairly, and rather than give the House Democrats the opportunity to prove him wrong (or right), he's doing the presidential equivalent of taking his ball and going home-except these committees are going to keep moving ahead, with or without his cooperation.

Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., a member of the Judiciary Committee, said on "This Week" that he thought it "would be to the president's advantage" to have counsel participate in the upcoming hearings.

As for the witnesses who've testified about their concerns and knowledge of events surrounding the withheld aid, the Republican report insists Democrats are trying to impeach Trump "based on the accusations and assumptions of unelected bureaucrats who disagreed with President Trump's policy initiatives and processes".

Three contenders are emerging for impeachment articles against Trump, according to major media reports.

A Republican report created to counter Democrats' impeachment case will argue that President Donald Trump's hesitation to meet with Ukraine's president and provide military aid to the country was "entirely prudent".

On Monday, Rudy Giuliani, the president's personal lawyer who featured prominently in previous hearings for his role in pressuring Ukraine to conduct investigations desired by Trump, said that the inquiry was "attempted coup takedown". His role in the company from 2014 through the Fall of 2015, has come under scrutiny.

Trump campaign will no longer credential Bloomberg News reporters at events
A fact witness testifies their personal knowledge of events while an expert witness assists the judge by offering an opinion. Cipollone in Sunday's letter left open the possibility of having a representative for Trump attend future hearings.

The furor over the Mueller report died down for a few months.

The Republican report specifically notes the call summary provided by the White House of Trump's conversation with Zelensky on July 25.

"Look, I never talked to the president from the position of a quid pro quo".

Mr Nadler wrote to President Trump last Wednesday, inviting him to attend the hearing.

In fact, Zelensky, has repeated publicly that he felt no pressure to investigate Trump's rival, Biden by the White House. I think that's just about fairness. "An I - so I think, and you read it, that nobody pushed - pushed me".

"The evidence shows that President Trump holds a deep-seated, genuine, and reasonable skepticism of the US foreign aid and the need for European allies to shoulder more of the financial burden for regional defense", the report continues. Several current and former administration officials testified in public and closed-door settings about whether Trump allegedly solicited Ukraine's interference in the 2020 election, which Trump and Ukrainian officials have denied.

'Indisputable evidence shows that senior Ukrainian government officials sought to influence the 2016 election in favor of Secretary Clinton and against then-candidate Trump, ' the write. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Biden in Ukraine.

The evidence does not support that President Trump withheld U.S. Security assistance to Ukraine for the objective of pressuring Ukraine to investigate Burisma Holdings, Vice President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, or Ukrainian influence in the 2016 election.
