Body of woman found after two weeks lost in the outback

The search for a woman who has been missing for more than two weeks in the Australian desert has ended in tragedy, with police believing they have located her body.

Police located the body, which is believed to be that of Claire Hockridge, during search efforts of the Palmer Valley Station area on Tuesday.

A local rancher then on Tuesday found 40-year-old man Phu Tran, "slightly disorientated" but in a "good condition" a two-day walk from the vehicle.

Hockeridge, her partner Tamra McBeath-Riley, 52, and their companion Phu Tran, 40, were in a SUV that became bogged in a dry riverbed during an afternoon sightseeing drive on November 19.

Police have yet to formally confirm that the remains found south of the town of Alice Springs are of Claire Hockridge, 46.

After leaving their vehicle where it became bogged in the bed of the Finke River on November 19, the three drank from a cattle watering hole and ate biscuits and beef noodles before splitting up.

Ms McBeath-Riley, 52, was found at a waterhole east of the Stuarts Well area, south of Alice Springs, late on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking alongside Ms Hockridge's family members at the Alice Springs Police Station on Wednesday, Mr Tran thanked the NT emergency services and rescue teams for their efforts.

Sarah Hockridge, who had travelled from her farm at Wave Rock in Western Australia, thanked everyone involved in helping them, singling out Detective Matt Hughes who was in constant contact.

Mark Zuckerberg Dodges Questions About Secret Trump Meeting at White House: ‘Um…’
The BBC asked the Tories to take the ad down, only to be rebuffed. I mean, I don't think that that's". He denied that Trump lobbied him.

"We are all grieving and exhausted from the emotional roller coaster that we've ridden", Sarah Hockridge told reporters.

Tamra McBeath-Riley (left) and Claire Hockridge (right) were reported missing after setting out for a hike in central Australia.

"We are really concerned".

After almost two weeks, Ms McBeath-Riley was found on Sunday after police discovered the trio's vehicle which had become bogged in the Hugh River.

They had stayed by the auto for around three days in an unsuccessful attempt to free it, before splitting up to find help. "At night they could sleep in the auto".

Daytime temperatures in the Australian outback often exceed 40C (104F), with temperatures plummeting after sundown.

Formal identification is yet to be conducted and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Ms McBeath-Riley spoke outside hospital on Monday, saying she was "worried to death", because she thought the pair - who had a Global Positioning System and compass with them - would have earlier reached the Stuart Highway.
