Bianca Andreescu out of Australian Open with knee injury

Australian Open organizers confirm- Juan Martin del Potro is out of Melbourne

The 31-year-old Argentinian has played just one Australian Open since 2015, reaching the third round two years ago.

She won her first WTA tour title at Indian Wells, before beating Serena Williams in Andreescu's hometown of Toronto, and then again in NY to clinch her maiden grand slam title.

United States Open champ Bianca Andreescu has actually taken out of the Australian Open due to a knee injury. However, the Australian Open is too soon for her.

Andreescu officially withdrew from the Grand Slam event due to a knee injury she first suffered at the WTA Finals in China in October. "It was a very tough decision to make as I love to play in Melbourne but I have to respect the recuperation plan for my (left) knee and body". Del Potro has failed to recover from a knee injury which he suffered during the Wimbledon tune-up at Queen's in June past year. "We hope to see you back in Australia soon".

Australia turns from defense to offense in wildfire battle
While this is all well and good, Morrison has still not flagged any meaningful changes to Australia's current climate policy. The 60-year-old married father of two children was recognized in November for his 40-year job with the forest authority.

Andreescu, the reigning women's US Open champion, reported that the knee injury she sustained at the WTA Finals in Shenzhen has failed to heal in time for a tilt at Melbourne Park.

The Australian Open is set to start from January 20 and continue until February 2.

Andreescu defeated former world no.1 Angelique Kerber to win at the Indian Wells Masters and won the Rogers Cup in her home country, becoming the first Canadian win in 50 years.

Andreescu, 19, has not played since the WTA Finals, withdrawing on December 24 from what would have been her 2020 season-opening tournament in Auckland this week.
