Democratic Presidential Nomination: Spiritual Guru Marianne Williamson Ends Campaign

Democratic presidential hopeful gestures while speaking at the Democratic National Committee's summer meeting Aug. 23 2019 in San Francisco

Democratic presidential nominee Marianne Williamson, spiritual guru and bestselling author, ended her campaign on Friday weeks before the poll began, saying she didn't want it to be any more hard if progress won.

Williamson announced she had ended her campaign Friday in a message on her website, saying she didn't want to her candidacy to make it tougher for progressives to win.

She ran on a message of trying to "harness love" to defeat President Trump and had proposed initiatives like a new U.S. Department of Peace.

Williamson's quixotic bid for the White House became nearly inevitable when news broke last week that she had laid off her entire national campaign staff.

"America will not have the future we want if we're not willing to clean up the past", she said in a TV ad in SC focused on the issue. I also understand some of the skepticism that abounds today about drugs which are rushed to market by Big Pharma.

Williamson had not qualified for the Democratic debate next week.

Alaska man survives three weeks with little food and shelter
I just huddled into that dark cave and I slept. "I'm probably going to go back home to Salt Lake City", he told troopers. But a lot of the food had popped open in the heat of the blaze, he said, and mixed with the smoke of his burning hut.

Williamson's campaign has been little-noticed in recent months, as focus shifted to the Democratic contenders who were meeting the party's fundraising and polling thresholds to qualify for debates and Williamson repeatedly missed the cut.

Discussing the Williamson campaign's failure to catch on, FiveThirtyEight wrote, "Maybe one reason why Williamson didn't fare better in the polls is that the more voters got to know her, the less they liked her. ...

The racism, the bigotry, and the entire conversation that we're having here tonight - if you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dark psychic force of the collectivized hatred that this president is bringing up in this country, then I'm afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days".

Looks like the White House won't get a much-needed sage-burning cleanse that Marianne Williamson likely would have implemented on Day One as President of the United States.

And her candidacy was mourned by the same people who relished her unorthodox rise. "And yes....love will prevail". "Gee, did I upset someone?" she said on Twitter in August.
