Bangladesh and India players penalised after altercation

U19 World Cup

As per reports, Bangladesh players were at fault once again as they were the ones who started it all.

The International Cricket Council is set to investigate the altercation between Bangladesh and India players following the grand finale of the U-19 World Cup at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa Sunday.

Meanwhile, Player of the Tournament Yashasvi Jaiswal and highest wicket-taker Ravi Bishnoi were among three Indians named in the ICC U-19 World Cup Team of the Tournament on Monday. These three gamers have been discovered responsible by the ICC of breaking Article 2.21. It covers public acts of misconduct, unruly public behaviour and inappropriate comments which are detrimental to the interests of the game. One suspension point equals to a player being ineligible for one ODI or T20I, Under-19 or A team global match.

India were bowled out for just 177 and Bangladesh chased down an adjusted target of 170, calculated using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method which is used after rain delays.

National newspapers hailed the teen cricketers, with one publication likening Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali to Mughal emperor Akbar the Great.

The meat-eating predator is said to have walked the Earth roughly 79.5 million years ago, nearly 2.5 million years older than its famous T-Rex cousin.

Yasashvi Jaiswal (88 off 121 balls) was once again a standout performer but not for once did he look like dominating the Bangladesh bowling unit whose new ball bowlers Shoriful Islam (2/31 in 10 overs) and Tanzim Hasan Shakib (2/28 in 8.2 overs) literally stifled the Indians for runs.

As soon as the match ended, it became tense with Bangladeshi players rushing to the ground and display aggressive body language. The Indian duo of Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi were receiving another charge for breaching Article 2.5. The incident occurred in the 23rd over following Avishek Das's dismissal and it earned him two more demerit points, making it seven in total.

Team-mate Hossain received eight suspension points, equating to six demerit points, while Hasan was given four suspension points, equating to five demerit points. The records will stay with them for the next couple of years.

Match officials, including on-field umpires Sam Nogajski and Adrian Holdstock, third umpire Ravindra Wimalasiri and fourth umpire Patrick Bongni Jele, levelled the charges against the players, with the final penalty proposed by the match referee, Graeme Labrooy.
