Storm Dennis warnings hit travel plans as attractions batten down the hatches

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the East of England

We have teams out across England today continuing to prepare for the severe weather that we are expecting over the weekend.

Mount Congreve gardens is due to reopen this Friday, but will remain closed if "severe weather warnings" are in place by Met Éireann.

Strong winds will primarily be an issue in the West of Ireland, but heavy rains may cause problems closer to home.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: "Spells of heavy and prolonged rain are expected to affect southern Scotland during Saturday, particularly through the afternoon".

"There is a possibility that there will be wind warnings and rainfall warnings for periods over the weekend", she said.

A spokesman for Forestry England said: "The forecast is for strong winds this Saturday and Sunday, please take extra care if you are out in the forest".

Flu death total up to 46
McBee advised that all West Virginians six months of age and older are advised to get vaccinated against the flu. Carr says if you have any questions about your health and treatments its best to ask your personal doctor.

The Met Office has put yellow and amber warnings in place across the country this weekend as Storm Dennis travels north-east across the country.

"Around the coasts, especially in the west and south, gusts of 60-70 miles per hour are likely".

"There is a high risk of disruption, with localised flooding expected, and we urge drivers to drive to the conditions of the road".

SP Energy Networks, the electricity distributor for central and southern Scotland, said flooding on roads could make it hard for engineers to reach faults in the network.

Just a week before, Storm Ciara had unleashed fury over many parts of the United Kingdom and resulted in heavy rains, snow and windy conditions.

The insurer said that there had been significant storm damage caused by high winds unlike in more northerly parts of the country where flooding was mainly to blame for the damage.
