Boeing suspending Puget Sound production

Boeing Final Assembly

Boeing has temporarily suspended production operations at its Puget Sound-area facilities in light of the state of emergency in Washington state and the company's continuous assessment of the accelerating spread of the coronavirus in the region, the company said in a release.

There were allegedly 31 cases of this disease throughout the company, with the first at its SC 787 factory Monday.Boeing said that workers who cannot continue to operate remotely will get paid leave for the 10 days of the suspension. The suspension of production operations will last 14 days, during which Boeing will continue to monitor government guidance and actions on COVID-19 and its associated impacts on all company operations.

Production employees are asked to report to their normal assignment on Monday to be given more information about the suspension process. Employees who can't work remotely will get paid leave for the first ten days of the suspension. Boeing has borrowed billions of dollars during the grounding of the MAX and has been keeping workers at its Renton factory engaged despite suspending production of the MAX in January.

Another African Music Legend Manu Dibango Dies Of Coronavirus
" He died early this morning in a hospital in the Paris region ", his music publisher Thierry Durepaire said. He became a professional musician and joined the group Africa Jazz, and returned to Paris in 1965.

The announcement came one day after an employee from the company's Everett, Washington, plant died of COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has been halted for pending news.

The company has around 70,000 workers in the Puget Sound region, representing almost half of Boeing's global workforce, the company said previous year.

Many are now deferring deliveries of airplanes from Boeing and Airbus, which delays when the plane makers receive obligations.

Experts say ways to avoid contracting the new illness include avoiding close contact with people who are sick, staying at least six feet away from all people except for those they live with, and frequently cleaning their hands, especially after they've been in a public place, or after blowing their nose, coughing, or sneezing.
