Actor Fred Willard has died at 86, reports say

The star died peacefully on Friday "at the fantastic age of 86 years old", his daughter, Hope Mulbarger, confirmed to CNN.

Willard kept on working right up to the end.

Phil Rosenthal, creator, writer and executive producer of "Everybody Loves Raymond", shared an old photo of Willard to remember him.

Over an acting career that spanned over 50 years, Willard popped up in a variety of settings- from sitcoms like "Modern Family" to reality TV shows slike "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette", game shows, commercials and even on the soap opera "The Bold and the lovely".

The news was first broken by Jamie Lee Curtis, the wife of Christopher Guest, in whose mockumentaries - including Best in Show and A Mighty Wind - Willard won a new army of fans.

Fred Willard, seen at a film premiere in Los Angeles in 2017, has died at the age of 86. Willard had appeared on Kimmel's late-night talk show after the death of his wife. This was very much apparent in his "Anchorman" performances. He earned four Emmy nominations for his recurring guest roles on Everybody Loves Raymond and Modern Family, as well.

Willard portrayed the character Fred Naird in the upcoming Netflix comedy "Space Force", starring Steve Carell, which premieres on May 29th.

Fred Willard's began his stage career while working in NY in the '50s. He is survived by his daughter, Hope and one grandson.
