Chrome will start blocking resource-demanding ads in August

Google Chrome will now allow users to group their tabs

The tool lets its users' group tabs together and label them with a custom name and color. The feature will make its way to the stable release of Chrome starting next week.

The feature, which Google has been testing for months, is now only available on the beta version of Chrome. Fearless blocks ads by default, Vivaldi now offers ad blocking as an option, and Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla take various measures to block ads from tracking you online and infringe privacy. Yes, you can even use emoji for your tab group names if you really want. With multiple tabs open in the browser at one time, the Chrome browser is usually a place of utter chaos and disarray. When you shut the tabs, these teams are saved, similar to common tabs so that you simply reopen and begin engaged on them once more. Back in November 2018, it took action to demonetize sites that ran "consistently deceptive" ads in an effort to protect users from sites that trap them in an endless series of clickjacking redirects.

A long-term solution is needed to ensure that Chrome remains a relevant browser. Vivaldi supports Tab Stacks and Tab Tiling, for instance.

Google isn't likely too anxious about losing its majority market share to its rivals, given its near-complete dominance on the desktop.

While this is a new feature for Chrome, it's something that other browsers already have and/or have had in the past. That could have been just enough of a push to get Google to focus on new features that will keep consumers in its ecosystem. Called "tab groups", this feature is right now available in the Chrome beta.

To determine these caps, Google looked at the data usage among some of Chrome's worst offenders.
