Ford seeks expanded testing as Ontario reports 413 new COVID-19 cases

Province “won't hesitate to roll things back” if Ontario sees a surge of new COVID-19 cases

Over the past four days, Ontario has lagged behind its stated daily target of 16,000 tests per day, averaging around 8,200 per day.

"We are investing nearly $2 million to create a virtual action centre to help impacted workers upgrade their skills as we gradually and safely reopen the economy", Ford said.

"I want to see people being tested", Ford said. "Please go out and get tested". "I don't think that's going to help us".

Peel Public Health says 147 residents have died in long-term care homes.

"If we see the numbers start spiking, we will roll things back in a heartbeat", Ford stated earlier this week.

"The impact of COVID-19 has been devastating for many business owners, workers, and families, and that's why we are doing everything we can to help people through this hard period", said Ford. "That is disappointing and we're trying to get a sense of why that is accruing". "Keep going. We're going to expand this right across the province".

According to the government of Ontario's website, this brings the total number of provincial cases up to 24,628, with 18,767 recoveries and 2,021 deaths.

A court case might have been the thing that shaped her life, but as a child McCorvey spent her life on the wrong side of the law. In the three years it took the case to work its way through the courts, she gave birth and put the child up for adoption.

In Quinte, meanwhile, the numbers have remained flattened as no new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported Friday leaving the caseload for lab-confirmed cases at 43.

Throughout the beginning of this week, the increase in cases stayed below 400.

"We're pretty well at a plateau", Ontario Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Williams said Thursday.

Ford, and Ross Romano, Minister of Colleges and Universities, made the announcement on Thursday, saying the province is funding 15 high-quality and promising proposals that were submitted in response to a recent call for proposals for the Ontario COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund. "They are going to come back with a plan, it's all hands on deck".

"I want to see truckers tested, I want so see taxi drivers tested, I want to make sure that long term care (gets regularly tested)".

Ahmed said people being tested will need to have their health card and another form of identification to ensure the health unit can reach out if a person tests positive. "Let's see what happens next week and let's start getting out there and testing everyone possible". These military personnel are also wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and are being trained in using these by the military's medical branch and according to the guidelines set by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
