Trump visits Michigan Ford plant amid political tensions, does not wear mask

A member of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment also known as The Old Guard wears a face mask as he places flags in front of each

The president was asked today at the White House about whether he was still taking hydroxychloroquine.

"I think it sets an example both ways, and like I said, I did have it on", Trump replied.

"People say that's a very distinct possibility, it's standard", Trump said while touring a Ford factory in MI when asked by a reporter whether he was concerned about the possibility of a so-called second wave of the virus.

Trump claimed he did wear a mask out of view of reporters because he said he did not want to give the media the pleasure of seeing it.

Trump has yet to publicly wear a mask since the beginning of the pandemic, a practice that has been encouraged to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat seen as a potential vice presidential running mate for presumptive presidential challenger Joe Biden, is facing a backlash from some critics against her stay-at-home orders in a state hit hard by the last recession even though polls show most residents support her handling of the pandemic.

Bruce 'in the dark' over Newcastle takeover
Bruce was only appointed at the start of this season and he has done a decent job. It's not as if they've had a break as such because we gave them a programme.

Trump also needled Whitmer on Twitter over her decision to keep stay-at-home orders largely in place. It's a rare positive comment he's offered about Whitmer as the two have tangled about the president's response to the coronavirus outbreak. Bill Ford, the great-grandson of Henry Ford, has been the company's executive chairman. "The President later removed the mask for the remainder of the visit".

For a moment, he also teasingly held up a clear shield in front of his face.

"While my department will not act to prevent you from touring Ford's plant, I ask that while you are on tour you respect the great efforts of the men and women at Ford - and across this state - by wearing a facial covering", Nessel wrote.

Referring to states like California that didn't reopen as soon as other Trump said, "I don't think the people are going to stand for it".

The praise from the president runs counter to his much-publicized criticism of the company during the election and even after.

U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered flags on all federal buildings and monuments lowed to half-staff for the next three days in memory of all Americans who have lost their lives to the coronavirus.

"We are the most American automaker", Ford said. "We assemble more vehicles in American than anyone else, and we invest more here".
