WELP: William Roddie Bryan Arrested For Murder For Filming #AhmaudArbery Killing

US man who filmed Arbery shooting video charged with murder

Mr McMichael retired previous year after more than two decades as an investigator for the local prosecutor's office.

Bryan took the viral cellphone footage depicting the chase and killing of Arbery, 25, on February 23 in Glynn County.

More than two months later, authorities arrested Gregory McMichael and his son, Travis McMichael, on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.

Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34, were arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and charged with murder in the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed black man, in Brunswick, Georgia.

The McMichaels remain in a Glynn County jail waiting for a preliminary court hearing and for a judge to decide whether to free them on bond pending trial.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vic Reynolds also appeared alongside Cobb County District Attorney Joyette Holmes, saying that "at this point we feel confident the individuals who needed to be charged have been charged". A third district attorney, Tom Durden, brought GBI into the case on May 5.

Coronavirus: Quarantine plans for United Kingdom arrivals unveiled
But despite working closely with the French authorities, Patel said arrivals from France would have to go into quarantine. The Government has also threatened to carry out spot checks around the country to make sure people are complying.

The initial police report mentions Bryan: "Roddy attempted to block him, which was unsuccessful".

Arbery was slain February 23 when the white father and son armed themselves and pursued the 25-year-old black man running in their neighborhood. Gregory McMichael and his son Travis already are charged with murder in the case. Arbery stumbled and fell to the ground, where he was pronounced dead. The McMichaels maintain a false narrative which says they were seeking to end a string of burglaries in the neighborhood and felt that Arbery fit the description of the suspect.

Following Bryan's arrest, Merritt, along with the family's other attorneys Benjamin Crump and L. Chris Stewart, issued a statement.

During the interview, he did not answer questions on why he was there or why he started recording, but his lawyer Kevin Gough said: "My client was responding to what he saw, which was someone in the community he didn't know being followed by a vehicle he recognised".

The legal team added that Ahmaud's family is "thankful for the diligence of the GBI and the way in which they tirelessly pursued the evidence in this case". "We want anyone who participated in the murder of Mr. Arbery to be held accountable".

"Nor did William "Roddie" Bryan have any conversation with anyone else that day prior to the shooting about criminal activity in the neighbourhood", said Mr Gough, using Mr Bryan's nickname. The video shows Aubrey jogging down a two-lane street, then being shot to death as he was confronted by two armed white men who had stopped their pickup truck in his path.
