Grimes changes son's name to comply with California law

The 32-year-old singer, who gave birth to her son on May 4, was forced to changed her newborn's name from X Æ A-12 to X Æ A-Xii, because in Californian law you can't register a name that contains numbers. "What is the baby's new name?" a fan wrote on Grimes' latest Instagram post. Grimes wrote back, confirming: "Roman numerals".

The child is Grimes's first, but Musk's seventh. Thus, you can't have numbers, Roman numerals, accents, umlauts or other symbols or emojis.

This is not the first and only instance of Musk and his associates clashing with Californian law - he recently had a legal stand-off with the state of California after he was prevented from reopening his Tesla plant.

Grimes clearly got the message, because someone noticed a change and asked, "Did you change the baby name because of California law?".

Grimes previously broke down the meaning of the name for intrigued fans.

Champions for Charity: Woods and Manning win as $20m raised for charity
The former New England Patriots star's shot was a beauty, pitching on the green and darting into the hole. He was taunted by merciless announcer Charles Barkley as his tee shots flew all over the Medalist course.

The original "A-12", meanwhile, is a reference to the precursor to Lockheed's "SR-17" jet, which she called "our favorite aircraft" because it offers "no weapons, no defenses, just speed". Their child's new name is officially X Æ A-Xii.

Grimes and Musk, 48, started dating in 2018. "Great in battle, but non-violent", she added. He insults U.S. officials online in Russian, works tirelessly on Tesla's new products, and then wipes $14 billion off the company's value with one post on Twitter.

He said the X is simply 'ex, ' the Æ is pronounced Ash, while A-12 is Archangel.

But Musk, who already has five children - Griffin and Xavier and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai - credited his partner for the creative name leap.
