‘Pop, Lock & Drop It’ rapper Huey killed in Missouri shooting, cops say

He arrived at a hospital around 11 p.m. Thursday after being shot at least once, according to WWL.

After an investigation, police revealed that another victim of the same shooting arrived at the Ferguson Police Department with a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police have made no arrests at this time.

Sad news out of St. Louis.

Police said in a news release that detectives believe as many as 10 other people where there when the shooting happened.

A longtime fixture in the local rap community around St. Louis, Huey spent 23 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart with Pop, Lock & Drop It, where it peaked at No. 6 back in 2007, eventually earning him double-platinum status.

None of the officers were injured seriously, though two required hospital treatment, the police said in a statement. Officers also attended another party on Streatham Common, south London .

Franks Jr. had a 13-year-old daughter, according to KTVI. Currently, the single's video has over 50 million views on YouTube.

Rapper Huey, popular for his song "Pop, Lock & Drop It", has reportedly passed away. "My lil cousin! Rest Easy!", tweeted his cousin, St. Louis mentor and activist Bruce Franks Jr.

Anyone who has any information on the case is asked to call the St. Louis County Police Department at (636) 529-8210, WWL reported. "Ima help keep your spirit alive down here. much much love forever".

Music executive William "Quayshaun" Carter, who previously worked with the rapper, told Pitchfork, "He was a good kid". He'd just started another business [and] was getting into upscale clothing, and it was working out, and he was happy.
