Normal People to return with two-episode special

Normal People Daisy Edgar-Jones

Yes Fleabag's Hot Priest brought to life by Andrew Scott.

You know, that silver chain. It looks like not much has changed, tbh.

Although Normal People was originally a BBC Three show, the programme was also shown weekly on BBC One.

The show, which is an adaptation of Sally Rooney's 2018 novel by the same name, delves into the complexities around relationships, friendships and love. "But maybe down the line we'll come back to Connell and Marianne".

However, in lieu of the second series, fans have some good news.

Normal People stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones returned to our screens for a one-night only special on RTÉ's special Comic Relief programme. "But it's really, really handsome", Curtis told RTÉ Radio 1.

Australia's Victoria struggles to contain Covid-19
Victoria's coronavirus tally has risen to 1987 after 41 new cases were recorded on Saturday. A man in his 70s from Sydney's west is amongst six new COVID-19 instances reported in NSW.

'I mean, one of the things about Comic Relief is it just gives opportunities for things to happen that would never happen. "I can't imagine any context in which they would have allowed this little sort of extra special guest into the world of Normal People".

The details of the special scenes were kept tightly under wraps and all we were promised was a "beautiful" reunion of the two characters.

Just when you thought you had said goodbye to Connell and Marianne's intense and rollercoaster relationship, creators have promised new material.

In the kitchen of their home, they argue about beans on toast, with Connell having made a serving for Marianne and her asking why.

Our hearts can't deal with these two.

The charity's co-founder Richard Curtis thrilled fans when he confirmed the news, which will imagine the lead characters' lives several decades into the future. It's then available on RTÉ Player live via catch up for all United Kingdom audiences, a spokesperson for the broadcaster told us. Sign up to our Lovin Home Comforts newsletter here.
