Donald Trump removes 'white power' video retweet

Ivanka and Donald Trump lean in to talk

Corrupt Joe is shot.

The president's decision to highlight a video featuring a racist slogan comes amid a national reckoning over race following the deaths of George Floyd and other black Americans.

Earlier in the day, the only black Republican Senator Tim Scott said in an interview with CNN that Trump should take the tweet down. I'm not going to.

He added that 'As the head of our organization, I absolutely run our organization as a quasi-Christian type of a club and the Bible does not discriminate. "We should take it down".

Mr Azar said: "I've not seen that video or that tweet, but obviously neither the president, his administration nor I would do anything to be supportive of white supremacy or anything that would support discrimination of any kind".

White House spokesman Judd Deere said the president "is a big fan of The Villages".

CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.

5 states reported their highest number of coronavirus cases in one day
Sunday's tally comes just one day after the state set a daily record for new cases with 9,585 infections. It marked the third day in a row that the state had seen more than 8,500 cases.

Donald Trump's Twitter account is under fire again, as the US President has retweeted yet another controversial post.

"Today the President shared a video of people shouting "white power" and said they were 'great.' Just like he did after Charlottesville", Biden tweeted.

The White House announced the cancellation of Trump's weekend trip to Bedminster just hours before he was due to board Air Force One, as concerns grew over a new surge in coronavirus cases across the country.

In his tweet, Trump did not specifically refer to the man who yelled "white power". He also has played into anti-immigrant anxieties by falsely claiming that people who have settled in this country commit crimes at greater rates than those who were born in the U.S.

With the coronavirus surging in many states and his Democratic rival Joe Biden ahead in polls, Mr Trump has cast aside expressions of support for peaceful protesters, and positioned himself as a "law and order candidate". But make no mistake: "it's a battle we will win", the former vice president tweeted. The slogan is often used by white supremacists.

Trump has stoked racial tensions in the United States throughout his presidency and has recently used race-baiting rhetoric as he seeks to fire up his base to win a second term in office.

While the video was tweeted Saturday and so far received almost 15,000 retweets, it appears to have been recorded on June 14, according to a recap of the rally posted by the community news outlet Villages News.
