CES 2021 moves to online format amid coronavirus pandemic

CES, the world's biggest tech event, is going online only

Shapiro promised that the CTA will use technology that has helped people work, learn and connect from home during the pandemic to "reimagine CES 2021 and bring together the tech community in a meaningful way". The CTA says the change of course is due to rising concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, especially in certain states and parts of the world.

The Consumer Technology Association pulled the plug on the physical version of the big Consumer Electronics Show 2021 and will instead go all-digital.

In a LinkedIn post, Shapiro provided more detail about the decision.

The virtual show will take place from January 6-9, 2021.

"The insurmountable logistical challenges of delivering an in-person event were clear given the global pandemic".

The organizer plans to hold CES 2022 in Las Vegas again, combining elements of physical and digital shows. At the time, the website stated, "While we plan to produce another in-person event in Las Vegas, we all face new considerations around attending conferences, conducting business and traveling to meetings". Moreover, CES is an event that attracts participants from around the world, an in large numbers might I add, all of which are usually packed in a closed off venue.

The CES 2021 will launch on the first week of January 2021 so if you've always wanted to check it out, this is the chance for you. "We are planning a unique expertise for the tech business". The 2021 digital convention and expo will be a highly "personalized experience", and will include talks from several tech innovators/companies, some news announcements, along with some new product demos.

What alarmed some experts was that these individuals suffered different symptoms than previous years including fever, shortness of breath, dry cough, pains and body aches - all of which are caused by COVID-19.

"What it can do is put the keynotes and panel chats online and come up with a way to present new products", said USA Today.
