United Kingdom anxious about second wave in Europe, more quarantine measures possible

In response to the increase in Covid-19 cases sweeping Europe, the United Kingdom introduced 14-day quarantine rules for people travelling from Spain.

Fears of a second wave of coronavirus have been growing in mainland Europe after both Spain and France recorded surges of new infections.

Speaking to LBC Mr Hancock warned, "we can see a second wave of the virus rising in Europe".

The British authorities are anxious about a second wave of coronavirus infections in Europe and will not hesitate to bring back more quarantine measures, possibly within the next few days, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Thursday.

Hancock stopped short of naming other European countries that might also end up back on the United Kingdom quarantine list, but cited France as an example of one where infections have lately risen. "I think you can see a second wave starting to roll across Europe, and we've got to do everything we can to prevent it from reaching these shores, and to tackle it", Hancock said during an interview on Sky News.

"The measures that the Chief Medical Officer will set out later are part of that".

Hinting that these changes could go ahead, Hancock said: "This is a decision that's clinically led".

ACC announces 11-game football schedule, WVU-Florida State off
That contest, which was to be held at U of L's Cardinal Stadium on November 28, was UK's final regular-season game. In the ACC scheduling model, the in-state rivalry with Georgia and Georgia Tech could be played, in theory.

"We moved fast on Spain and I am very glad we did". But we can only continue to grow with your support.

"This country has had a massive success now in reducing the numbers of those tragic deaths, and we've got it at the moment under some measure of control", he said on Thursday.

She said: "It can't be surprising that as we've all been obeying all sorts of lockdown restrictions, those have been eased, people are socialising, it's not surprising that people are getting closer to each other and there's more transmission".

What are the rules on self-isolation in the UK? Again, this is a really important essentially scientific, clinical question.

Matt Hancock told BBC Breakfast scientists were now investigating whether a new regime of testing passengers could safely cut the amount of time people have to isolate for. But it is something that we're working on.

Chris Whitty, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's senior medical adviser, will announce the changes Thursday, according to Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who declined to comment on reports those who test positive for the virus will need to self-isolate for 10 days instead of seven.

"We can no longer hide from the fact the Government has not handled this crisis well and needs to urgently learn lessons from its mistakes", he added.
